The KMML has started drudging of Sea-mouth and channel to the AzhikkalFishingHarbour on 10.06.2010. This was done on the basis of the Govt. direction to make the fishing harbour operational. The fishing harbour inaugurated in 2008 is not yet fully functional due to the formation of sand bars in the channel to help the local fishermen community. The HED had issued an order to undertake the work by the company paying royalty of Rs.50/tonn which is equally shared by Gramma Panchayat and HED. The company had hired drudger from Travancore Cements Ltd, Nattakom to do the work. The meeting held on 6.6.2010 chaired by Sri.A Shajahan IAS, District Collector of Kollam had sorted out the issues and started the work accordingly.
