EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF STEAM TURBINES AT THE TITANIUM DIOXIDE PIGMENT PLANT

1. BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Kerala Minerals and Metals Ltd (KMML) is a Government of Kerala undertaking engaged in the production of Rutile grade Titanium Dioxide Pigment. The company is also into the business of separation of minerals from the beach sands of Chavara, Kerala.  The Titanium Dioxide pigment plant was set up with knowhow provided by Kerr McGee Chemical Corporation, USA. The Titanium Dioxide Pigment plant started commercial production in 1984.

2 EoI OBJECTIVES

The Titanium Dioxide Pigment plant of KMML has five numbers steam turbines which serve as emergency drives for pumps and blowers in case of a power failure. The existing units are outdated and beyond economical repair. The company is therefore planning to install new units as replacements. The vendor is expected to study the requirements and to offer new turbines to meet the functional requirements.
